The 61st hotel in the City Lodge Hotel Group is officially open! The Town Lodge Umhlanga, with opening general manager Lizelle Henze at the helm, has welcomed the first guests to its 154-room property on the corner of Umhlanga Ridge Boulevard and Meridian Drive. The property has opened the first and second floor, a total of 76 guest rooms, as well as its commercial areas, with the remainder of the rooms to open by the end of August.
Divisional director of operations, Tony Balabanoff says, “Opening a new hotel is a major milestone and this property is particularly exciting as it expands our Town Lodge brand and features some of our new thinking towards environmental responsibility and guest experiences in the two-star category. These will include USB and international electrical points in all the right places, an after-breakfast food and healthy snack offering and our ‘Almost Friday, Thursday’ drinks and snack evenings which are hosted by the management team. We are extremely proud of our opening team, lead by Lizelle Henze, who have worked around the clock to ensure that everything is ready to welcome our guests.”
The four-floored property has a fresh new look and feel and its features include two boardrooms (16 and 14 pax), restaurant, outdoor swimming pool, social deck, gardens, and 110 parking bays. The restaurant offers three breakfast categories – full English (R170), Continental (R120) and light (R60) breakfast – and the bar is fully stocked with local and international beers, spirits and wines. There’s a wide selection of neighbourhood eateries close by which will deliver to the property for in-room or in-restaurant dining.
The Town Lodge Umhlanga is the 14th Town Lodge in the group, including 11 in SA and properties in Gaborone, Nairobi and Windhoek.
