While many might think of long, overland journeys when they think of the iconic Blue Train, it is also available for shorter journeys such as the two-day trip to Sun City. The Blue Train can be booked as a private charter, for both business or leisure travel purposes. On the business side, the train can be set up for conferencing, boardroom and group meetings, with multi-media facilities included, and for leisure, it’s a perfect vehicle for family gatherings, friend groups and cooperatives.
The Sun City trip sees the guests arrive mid-morning at the VIP Lounge at the Pretoria station, where all safety and hygiene information is shared. The formal proceedings are accompanied by canapes and beverages as well as a live performance from an artist who’ll be accompanying the group on the journey. Boarding then begins and a light brunch with finger food is served as the train leaves the station to slowly wind its way to Sun City and dock at the Sun City Halt.
From here, guests can spend the day at leisure at Sun City before returning to the train for an elegant five-course black-tie dinner prepared by Executive Chef Cresan Ramjathan and his team. Post-dinner drinks are then served across the three lounges on the train.
On the second and final day, guests are either served breakfast in bed by their butler or in the dining car. The morning is spend at leisure before the train departs for Pretoria Station.
