In a strategic move to introduce Taj Group synergy in Africa, Mark Wernich, General Manager for Taj Cape Town, has been promoted to Cluster General Manager by the Indian Hotels Company Limited.  His new role will see him managing not only Taj Cape Town, South Africa but also Taj Pamodzi, Lusaka. Mark will also provide support in identifying suitable business development opportunities in Africa.

Since his appointment in 2018 Mark Wernich as General Manager for Taj Cape Town, he has brought value and new dynamism to this inner city hotel.

2019 was a highlight year for Mark and his team as they oversaw an overall expansion and renovation to the two Taj Cape Town restaurants.

In the first half of 2019, Mint Restaurant and Terrace was totally renovated and turned into a contemporary destination in the heart of the city.

Later in the year, Mark and his team undertook the enormous task of expanding and totally redesigning Taj Cape Town’s iconic and signature fine dining restaurant Bombay Brasserie.  Bombay Brasserie transports patrons to the heart of India with-out leaving Cape Town’s inner city, offering the exceptional alchemy of fine dining fused with traditional authentic Indian design.

While these mammoth projects were in progress, Taj Cape Town scooped a total of seven hospitality industry awards.
