Restauranteur Liam Tomlin has announced that ‘Local, Mazza and La Cantina’ on Heritage Square (Cape Town), have been handed over to Victoria Engelhorn, who has been a long-time business partner in this market-eatery and restaurant concept since its inception a year ago (November 2020).

In the same building on 92 Bree Street, Tomlin will continue to operate the popular Chefs Warehouse Pinchos and Winebar as part of the Chefs Warehouse portfolio, which also includes Beau Constantia, Tintswalo Atlantic and Maison, as well as Thali.

Engelhorn is also a business partner with Tomlin in Brugarol and Brugarol X in Barcelona.  As owner of the Heritage Square site that includes the adjacent Cape Heritage Hotel, Engelhorn took over the running of Local, Mazza and La Cantina on 19 November 2021.

In addition to the current restaurants in Tomlin’s portfolio, he is now focusing on the development of new concepts both locally and abroad. ‘I am currently working on some exciting new projects in Cape Town, as well as Moscow, which will run independently from Chefs Warehouse. We are encouraged by the recovery we are starting to see in the restaurant and tourism industry and look forward to sharing some more details about these projects in the new year.’
