The Fire & Feast Butchers’ Festival presented by Crown National, will be the first-of-its kind in the city of Johannesburg.

 

The festival, which is a long overdue celebration of the meat industry and associated products, will kick off at the Ticketpro Dome from 26 – 28 May 2017 allowing meat lovers the opportunity to explore different kinds of cuisines all under one roof.

 

South Africa is a meat loving nation and eager to learn new trends, pairing and cooking methods. With this in mind, Reed Exhibitions has partnered with Crown National to bring the festival to Johannesburg.

The festival will focus on the creation of interactive experiences that provides the attending public with an educational opportunity to understand the various types, cuts and varieties of meat. In addition, explaining how to buy, prepare, pairing techniques and finally, the art of cooking meat.

 

According to Paul Edmunds, Consultant at Reed Exhibitions, organisers of the festival, “Global trends predicts an increase in consumption of meat products by as much as 4% over the next 10 years, and the known trend of South Africans’ love of both indoor and outdoor cooking, the launch of The Fire & Feast Butchers Festival was inevitable.”

 

Audiences will get to interact with more than 80 exhibitors, varying from associated regulators, food, beverage and lifestyle brands and will have the opportunity to find out more about the latest meat trends. Other highlights include the National Butchers Challenge competition based on a knock out challenge between eight butchers per side. The winning team will get to represent South Africa in Ireland.

 

In the ultimate South African Free Flame Championships, 60 individual or teams will sweat over hot grills and go all out to show their creative cooking skills in potjie, braai, shisa nyama and an American style barbeque. The top four grill masters will represent South Africa at the most prestigious World Barbeque Championships in Ireland as they take on the best barbecue teams from across the globe.

 

Attendees can look forward to the Beer and Braai Garden, Lamb and Mutton Kitchen, Beef Kitchen and the Wine and Food Pairing Zone. Visitors will have the opportunity to sample, sip and shop their way around the festival.

After wowing Johannesburg crowds, the next planned stop for the festival will be Cape Town where Capetonians will get a taste of The Fire & Feast Butchers Festival in September 2017.
