South Africa had 10.3 million international visitors last year, making it the second most visited country in Africa after Morocco. With the number of hotel rooms in the country increasing over the next five year, there’s no doubt that everyone in the hospitality industry is going to have to work hard to meet the expected growth – and employers need to make sure that their teams have been equipped with the skills to meet the service expectations from international guests.
To meet this challenge, HSC, a full-service staffing provider for hospitality, has launched HSC Training and its Supervisor development programme. Aimed at team leaders and supervisors in hotels, catering, clubs, restaurants and other hospitality-related establishments, the 6-month course emphasises leadership development, self-management and enhancing team performance.
“There is often a skills gap between management and supervisor level in hospitality” Says Chrismari du Toit senior training manager with HSC “developing supervisors and junior management will lead to better and more efficient service standards, communications and leadership on the floor”
The six-month course is fully accredited by Services SETA at NQF level 4 and requires attendance for 2 days a month at HSC’s training hub in Randburg. “The course is excellent value, at just R3,000 it includes all course materials, lunch and other refreshments as well as assignment and exam fees” continued Chrismari.
“There are 12 separate modules covering Management of teams, self-management, training, team motivation, setting and achieving standards, enhancing team performance plus plenty of practical content on improving efficiencies in an organisation. Each graduate will receive an accredited qualification and certificate” added Chrismari
