Die Kliphuis, an elegant sandstone property that’s steeped in history, has joined the BON Hotels fold. The 4-star boutique hotel in Standerton is a little further afield than BON Hotels’ acquisitions to date, but that’s part of the plan.

Guy Stehlik, CEO and founder of BON Hotels, says that as part of their growth strategy they have had to look for opportunities in smaller cities and remote towns of South Africa.  “Die Kliphuis is a good fit for us and marks our entrance into this hub of economic growth.  The commercial triangle in which the hotel is located, that being Secunda, Standerton and Evander, where Sasol is a large economic driver,  is one of the fastest growing  micro-economies in South Africa, contributing substantially to the country’s GDP”.

By moving into secondary and tertiary hubs, BON Hotels plans to make a positive contribution to the tourism industry in the area as well as the stakeholders of the hotel. The property, which will be renamed Die Kliphuis Standerton, offers accommodation for 60+ guests, conference facilities for up to 50 guests, a bar and a restaurant. There are also apartments and townhouses close to the hotel, for long-stay guests. The restaurant will undergo a soft refurb, menu revamp and room modifications, after which it’s hoped that the restaurant will be a must-visit dining spot.
