After nine months of extensive interior and exterior renovations and landscaping, the new-look ANEW Hotel Hluluhwe has been revealed. The property, which was formerly the Protea Hotel Hluhluwe, stands at the entrance of Hluhluwe town in Zululand and was purchased by ANEW Hotels & Resorts 2 years ago.
ANEW Hotels & Resorts CEO Clinton Armour says, “Hotels not only require good maintenance, but continuous upgrading to ensure they remain fresh and inviting in the eyes of our guests. Adding features that people are looking for in a property, adds value to their experience and we believe in maximizing these opportunities.”
The new look and feel of ANEW Hotel Hluhluwe is now softer and more modern, with Durban architects Koop Design using natural elements to complement its bush setting. All 67 rooms in the hotel received new aluminium sliding door, balconies and verandas, and the self-catering rondawels and lodge were also upgraded.
The sub-tropical bush on the property has been thinned out for guests to better appreciate the indigenous fever trees in the garden, and the parking lot has been extended to add 40 new parking spots. The pool area has also been updated, with new paving and covered seating areas, and wooden cladding has been added to the hotel’s balconies to enhance privacy.
“This refurbishment proves that we are invested in our properties and we are invested in South Africa and KZN’s tourism industry. We are always striving to improve not just our properties but the guest experience and we hope in this way we can share some of the magic that our country has to offer with our local and international visitors.”
