While the hotels’ desirable locations and beautifully appointed accommodation and restaurants attract guests from all corners of the world, it’s the excellent service and attention to detail provided by the well-trained staff, that keep guests coming back time and again.

“There is no doubt that a significant part of our success is our incredible Staff,” says Wayne Coetzer.  “They are at the coalface, dealing with guests day in and day out and how they handle a situation or interact with a guest, can make or break the quality of the visitor experience.”

With staff at the core of their operations, the Red Carnation Hotels Collection in South Africa, annually sends a group of staff to London for the Red Carnation Staff Appreciation Party.  The event is held at a prestigious venue to honour and recognise outstanding staff members as chosen by the management teams, from all the properties within the Group’s hotel portfolio worldwide – 17 hotels in all and is personally hosted by Red Carnation’s founder and president Mrs. Bea Tollman, in recognition of the hard work, dedication and commitment of the employees.

The winning employees are chosen from across all the departments within the hotel including spa, food and beverage, maintenance, human resources, kitchen, front of house and housekeeping.  For many this is not only their first overseas trip, but the first aeroplane journey and for some the first time leaving their hometown / city.

During the week in London, prior to the Gala Dinner, staff gain valuable exposure to international hotel standards, as they work side by side with their London counterparts in one of the group’s London hotels.

This year over 30 people will be attending from the three South African hotels including Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Wellness Retreat, The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa and The Oyster Box.  Staff within the group are often transferred to other properties in the portfolio both locally and internationally, to gain new skills and build career experience with a number of them remaining part of the Red Carnation family for many years.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
