South Africa; Cape Town; July 2010: The World Cup 2010 was not the only time South Africans saw movers and shakers ‘do their thing’ in the last couple of months. Lagoon Beach Hotel and Spa has been shaking things up within their management ranks as General Manager Eben Lassen said his farewell at the beginning of July 2010.
Anthony Kelly the Sales and Marketing Director for the D4 Hotel Group in Dublin moved comfortably into the position as General Manager at Lagoon Beach Hotel and his appointed management team are sure to offer improved and dynamic leadership and continued excellence.
Kelly, who has a legal background moved into the hospitality industry in Ireland some years ago and developed his hotel management skills in Ireland’s best known hotels – D4 Hotels in Dublin.

Appointed Deputy General Manager is Ireland born 28 yr old John Markham who’s achievements cannot go unnoticed. Markham was awarded the John McCarthy Award for excellence in Culinary Arts G.M.I.T in 2006 as well as the Days Hotel Best Business Policy project for Bachelor of Business G.M.I.T, also in 2006, amongst other acclaims.
Markham’s completion of a Bachelor of Business in Hotel & Catering Management and Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Hotel Management in 2007 as well as his vast experience within various hospitality portfolios in Ireland over the past 10 years affords him the opportunity to bring with him to South Africa an international standard of management and for D4 Hotels, an ambassador with 5-star status.
Markham’s assistance with the development of various departments at Tallaght Cross Hotel & Glashaus Hotel & Suites in Dublin from January 2008 to January 2009 afforded him the position of Deputy General Manager at D4 Hotels, Ballsbridge in March 2009 and thereafter a transfer to Lagoon Beach Hotel & Spa in August 2009 where he is responsible for all aspects of hotel operations.
34 yr old go-getter South African, Neilen Tolmay, was recently appointed Sales and Marketing Manager at Lagoon Beach Hotel. Tolmay completed his Higher Diploma in Integrated Marketing Communication in December 2005, specialising in Account Management, Brand Management & Media Management at AAA School of Advertising, carrying with him 11 years of experience in Sales and Marketing.
Besides an extensive corporate portfolio, which includes MWEB Business Solutions and MWEB Africa as well as Africa Marketing Manager for Shoprite, Tolmay worked at Saxenburg Wine Estate and his employ with the Village & Life Group had him looking after a large property portfolio which included The Bay Hotel and Camps Bay Retreat in Camps Bay, The Farmhouse Hotel in Langebaan and Waterfront Village in the V&A Waterfront as well as The Charles & De Waterkant House, guesthouses in De Waterkant, Cape Town.
